Caring for leather - a few tips

If you know how to maintain it and pamper it when it calls for it, your leather bag will become more and more beautiful over time! Indeed, leather is a natural material, which lives, evolves, moves, softens with use...

Should leather be waterproofed?

Before using your leather bag, you can protect it with a waterproofing agent to avoid stains from water or liquid products that can damage the leather. Remember to keep a minimum distance of 30 cm when spraying...
However, leather is naturally waterproof and waterproofing it with a product will not completely prevent stains... Sprayed too closely, it can make marks, and from too far away, it's useless.
So, yes, you can waterproof it, but by being well applied, and without expecting miracles either...

Moisturize the leather

To preserve the beauty of the leather longer, we recommend that you moisturize it regularly. How ? Either by applying special leather cream or, if you don't have any on hand, baby moisturizing milk, or even make-up remover milk. To apply the cream, proceed in a circular manner and with delicacy! And of course, don't forget to test on an invisible part of the leather beforehand....

How do I store leather?

Two useful tips:
- avoid exposing your leather bag to light
- protect it from dust by storing it in covers.

The place where the leather is stored should not be too humid or it could mold... Or too dry as it could lose its suppleness and become as "brittle" as your mother-in-law!

Removing a grease stain from leather

Let's imagine the disaster: you go to do your B-A of the month by taking your charming toddlers to eat a Happy Meal. So far, everything was going well. And suddenly, Balthazar drops his cone of fries on your brand new "Bowling Bag"! No luck. Before gutting the mini-bugger, know that the easiest thing to do when your leather is stained with grease is to sprinkle it quickly with a good layer of talc. It's not easy to find it in a restaurant, even an American one, so get home as soon as possible! Then wait a few hours, before gently rubbing the leather. You can repeat this operation until the leather returns to its original state.

If it is split leather, such as sequined clutches or "Happy trip" bags for example, you can clean it with a little soapy water and a soft cotton ball.
